Alcohol and semaglutide don’t interact with each other but drinking alcohol may make it harder to manage your blood sugar. Alcohol affects your body in ways that can make your blood sugar too high or too low after consuming it. If you drink alcohol, talk with our provider about how much, if any, is safe for you to consume while taking semaglutide.

Some patients report having a significantly decreased urge to drink alcohol while taking semalgutide. In fact, there are presently clinical trials being performed to test the use of semaglutide against alcohol use disorder (AUD).
